Programme: Liberia Land Rights Act
The Land Rights Act was the product of a long reform process that predated the Weah administration and involved the Legislature, the previous administration, civil society and international partners. President Weah signed the Act on 19 September 2018. World Bank analysis notes that the 2018 law fully recognised and protected customary land and strengthened women's land rights. This record therefore credits the administration with enactment at the presidential stage while recognising the reform's longer institutional history.
